Glitter Gal : Black Holographic

Yeay for black holo!

I finally got my hands on a black linear holo. Thanks to reading all of the helpful blogs out there and learning Glitter Gal polish was finally available in the U.S. at a few e-shops. This Glitter Gal polish can be fully opaque in one thick coat. I used two coats for the above swatches. The holographic effect is unfortunately lessened with the use of a topcoat. Also the bottle is so small at 0.30 oz. I could barely hold it for the pictures.  The above swatches are with indoor lighting and no topcoat. The holographic effect also increased with the level of lighting and will be at its fullest sparkle in the sunlight.

This polish is available at shop.llarowe.com for $14.00.

Orly FX Look-A-Like : Layering Fun

I have worn this layering combo a few times now, and it reminds me so much of last year's Orly Cosmic FX, and this years Orly Mineral FX Collection. There is a duochrome shimmer and super sparkle quality that makes this my own personal teal addition to the FX collection polishes I own.

The combo is one coat of Rescue Beauty Lounge Teal then a coat of Wet 'n Wild Blue Wants to Be a Millionaire, topped with Jesse's Girl Firefly. Any cream polish in any color of your choosing would work for the base color. I like how the holographic shimmer in Blue Wants to be a Millionaire peeks through the duochrome shimmer of Firefly. Blue Wants to be a Millionaire's sky blue base is very sheer on the first coat and doesn't change the color of the base polish. Firefly is a sheer green/gold shimmer polish that is great for layering. This combo also wears about a week without chipping for me. The swatches are with Seche Vite top coat.

Thanks for stopping by!

Orly Mineral FX Collection Fall 2011 : Rock Solid, Stone Cold, and Rock the World

Flash
Indooor Lighting
Rock Solid is a sparkly gray shimmer polish, with holographic glitter. It is my favorite out of the collection. As with any holographic glitter, the sparkle is hard to photograph. The swatches are three coats.

Stone Cold is a royal blue shimmer with a smooth finish. The swatches are three coats. It's so lively and blue. I love it.

Rock the World, I honestly dont know how to describe this color. For sure it is a shimmery duochrome with gold. But the main color is a mauve, reddish, fuschia, magenta, type color. It is fascinating none the less.

The Orly FX Collections polishes are all so sparkly and shimmery, and if you see one in your favorite color pick it up if you can. They all need  three coats for me to reach full opacity, but are a joy to look at and wear. These are available at Sally Beauty Supply at a retail price of $8.99.

Tristam is a navy blue scattered holographic polish, two coats.

Just like many fellow nail polish addicts, I am always on the hunt for new and unique holographic polishes. These offerings from a-england make a great addition to any holo lover's stash. Lady of the Lake is a true royal purple, which is hard to find in holographic polishes. Tristam is also my first navy blue holo. I have searched far and wide for as many blue holos as I can get my hands on. I have only come across sky to medium blue holographic polishes, never a true blue or darker. So I am very happy to own this polish. The swatches above are two coats. The formula is thick, but applies easily and the finish is smooth.

A-england polishes are available at http://www.a-england.co.uk/ at a retail price of 9.00 GBP, or about 14.77 USD. Dollars for 0.4 fl. oz. Shipping to the U.S. is 4.00 GBP approximately 6.56 USD. Word around the Twitterverse is that their next collection will feature a green holo! Keep an eye out on their Twitter for more information.

True Blood Week: Nfu Oh GS-14

Flash
Indoor Lighting

The True Blood character I am drawing inspiration from today is Lafayette Reynolds. The polish I chose is Nfu Oh GS-14. It has a black base and is loaded with medium-sized silver and rainbow holographic glitter. I chose this polish because Lafayette, and the polish alike, is flamboyant and colorful. I love when he wears shimmery outfits and makeup, my favorite being a black and shimmery silver look, he once wore. This polish would look great with "fierce" Lafayette-style cat eye makeup. The pictures above feature two coats of polish. The Nfu Oh brand is available online in the US at fabuloustreet.com. The retail price is $12.50 and all orders ship free for the US.
