Layla Magneffect Nail Polish

Silver Galaxy was my favorite of these four polishes. It creates a silver and black 3d effect, with silver glitter throughout. It is interesting that the magnetic quality doesn't disturb the glitter and it is evenly dispersed.

Black Metal creates a black and silver 3D effect.

Metallic Sky creates a sky blue and navy blue 3D effect

Blue Grey Flow creates a silver/gray, and blue/black 3d effect.

These polishes are so fun to apply, and the look of the 3d effect is definitely better in person. There is a line on the cap that is a good guide for how you want your design to appear. Hold the cap with the line horizontally across the nail bed for horizontal lines, or angle it slightly for the diagonal look. I used one coat on all of the nails, and then on the second coat applied the magnet for about 10 seconds to each nail as close as I could get it without touching. It may seem intimidating at first, but the process actually goes by quickly. If the design isn't as you wished just polish another layer on the nail and try again. That worked great for me.

I purchased these from AVEYOU. The retail price is $15.50 per polish, but remember to check for coupon codes online. I also received  a cute mini tote bag with my purchase. This is definitely a fun new trend in polish that I am glad I could try.

Orly Mineral FX Collection Fall 2011 : Rock Solid, Stone Cold, and Rock the World

Flash
Indooor Lighting
Rock Solid is a sparkly gray shimmer polish, with holographic glitter. It is my favorite out of the collection. As with any holographic glitter, the sparkle is hard to photograph. The swatches are three coats.

Stone Cold is a royal blue shimmer with a smooth finish. The swatches are three coats. It's so lively and blue. I love it.

Rock the World, I honestly dont know how to describe this color. For sure it is a shimmery duochrome with gold. But the main color is a mauve, reddish, fuschia, magenta, type color. It is fascinating none the less.

The Orly FX Collections polishes are all so sparkly and shimmery, and if you see one in your favorite color pick it up if you can. They all need  three coats for me to reach full opacity, but are a joy to look at and wear. These are available at Sally Beauty Supply at a retail price of $8.99.

Skyscraper is a sheer navy blue base with silver shimmer, three coats for opaque coverage. Layer it over a navy polish to use less coats.

China Glaze Metro is part of the Fall 2011 collection. All of the polishes above have a smooth even formula, and the only one that needed three coats was Skyscraper.  Trendsetter, Weekend Warrior, and Concrete Catwalk were all fully opaque in two coats. They are available at Sally Beauty Supply at a retail price of $5.99.

True Blood Week: Shifter Saturday with Zoya Ki

Flash
Indoor Lighting: Green and Purple

Indoor Lighting: Silver and Green

Dim Lighting: Silver and Green

Zoya Ki is a "multichrome" polish that shows mainly purple, green and silver/gray. It has a shimmery finish and the swatches are three coats. This color is great to represent the shape shifters on True Blood because of the way this polish seems to magically change.  It is mainly purple in bright lighting. The color changes at every angle, and the green becomes most apparent in dim lighting. Zoya Ki is available a zoya.com. The retail price is $8.00.
