Orly Fowl Play

Orly Fowl Play is part of Orly's Birds of a Feather Collection for Holiday 2011. It is a deep plum shade of purple, and is a jelly polish with flakies and blue glitter. It is a very unique shade and the flakies make it extra special. The flakies looks to me to be an iridescent coral, gold, and red depending on the viewing angle. I used three coats in the swatches, and the polish has a smooth finish. Orly polishes retail for 8.99 at Sally Beauty Supply.

Fun Halloween Flakie Find

I found this flakie polish in the seasonal section of Meijer Grocery store. The collection also had bar glitters, moon glitters, circle glitters, glow in the dark glitters, and more.

This polish doesn't have a name included, the sticker on the bottom reads Chunky Nail, but so did most of the other glitters in the collection I purchased. The base is a sheer purple jelly, and the swatches are two coats over a purple creme polish. The base contains flakie and regular glitter that has a purple, blue, and teal shift! The flakie glitter is also iridescent. The polish was slightly thick and the flakie glitter was sparse with the first coat. The second coat seemed to add plenty of flakies. To top it all off, the retail price is only $2.49.

China Glaze It's Alive is part of the Halloween collection this year. The color is an olive green glitter. It is packed full of olive green flakie, circle and regular glitter in an olive base. The application was wonderful and the above swatches are two coats. I would consider this the must have of the collection. This polish will be available soon at Sally Beauty Supply and is available now at certain e-tailers at a retail price of $5.99.

China Glaze Tarnished Gold is a golden shimmery, metallic crackle polish. It is a mid-tone gold and it looks similar to OPI Blasted Gold. It is less champagne and more of a true gold than the Sephora version. In the top two swatches I used it over RBL Purple Haze which is a medium tone violet. Purple Haze is more purple than the lavender it appears in my pictures. My friend Jacque suggested I try flakies with crackle and the extra swatches are for her, lol. In the following swatches I used a teal blue on my index finger, navy blue on my middle finger, and a purple on my ring finger. The flakie polish peeks through as Jacque hoped, like burning embers. I found it interesting that in the purple swatch with flakiness sandwiched in between, the gold crackle turned rose gold, which will add a free extra color to your crackle arsenal. It reminds me of swatches I have seen of China Glaze Latticed Lilac. So have fun and pick a metal crackle up for summer. China Glaze Metallic crackles are available online and in store at Sally Beauty Supply at a retail price of $6.99.
