Orly Fowl Play

Indoor Lighting

Indoor Lighting

Orly Fowl Play is part of Orly's Birds of a Feather Collection for Holiday 2011. It is a deep plum shade of purple, and is a jelly polish with flakies and blue glitter. It is a very unique shade and the flakies make it extra special. The flakies looks to me to be an iridescent coral, gold, and red depending on the viewing angle. I used three coats in the swatches, and the polish has a smooth finish. Orly polishes retail for 8.99 at Sally Beauty Supply.

I am sure you have seen plenty of swatches of these cute polishes. But I had to at least cover one of the adorably bottled polishes here. Black Magic is a black cream polish with orange and silver glitter. The brush wasn't the best but it applied fine. The swatches are two coats. These polishes retail for $2.99 at drugstores, and I have also seen them at Meijer.

Thanks for looking!

One coat over black Indoor Lighting

Nubar Antiquity Silver is a silver glitter with small silver flakie glitter packed in a clear base. The first two swatches are three coats. It is sheer with three coats but pretty if you like to wear sheer polish, or a french manicure. The bottom swatches are one coat over a black cream polish. The application and finish of this glitter polish is smooth. The retail price is $7.49.

Kleancolor Golden Nightmare

Kleancolor Golden Nightmare is an opaque black cream with golden glitter. This color is so pretty. There are small round, and slightly larger irregular gold glitter that makes it look almost like a flakie. The swatches are only one coat and the application formula and brush were great. The think the bottle is cute too. The finish has a slightly gritty feel so a topcoat would make it completely smooth. Kleancolor prices vary depending on where you find them starting from $1.00 to $3.99.

Claw Polish in Voodoo and Wet n Wild Behind Closed Doors

Claw Polish in Voodoo Three Coats

One Coat Wet n Wild Behind Closed Doors over Claw Polish Voodoo
Flash
Fright Night Claw Polish in Voodoo is a medium/deep red polish with red shimmer. The application and brush were fine. I used three coats and there was still slight visible nail line. I found this polish in the seasonal section of Meijer for $1.99.

I added one coat of Wet n Wild Behind Closed Doors from the On the Prowl Collection. It is a red glitter polish with red hexagonal glitter in a sheer black base.  The black base darkens the red polish to a deep blood red shade perfect for Halloween. Behind Closed Doors is limited edition for $1.99 at CVS.

Orly FX Look-A-Like : Layering Fun

I have worn this layering combo a few times now, and it reminds me so much of last year's Orly Cosmic FX, and this years Orly Mineral FX Collection. There is a duochrome shimmer and super sparkle quality that makes this my own personal teal addition to the FX collection polishes I own.

The combo is one coat of Rescue Beauty Lounge Teal then a coat of Wet 'n Wild Blue Wants to Be a Millionaire, topped with Jesse's Girl Firefly. Any cream polish in any color of your choosing would work for the base color. I like how the holographic shimmer in Blue Wants to be a Millionaire peeks through the duochrome shimmer of Firefly. Blue Wants to be a Millionaire's sky blue base is very sheer on the first coat and doesn't change the color of the base polish. Firefly is a sheer green/gold shimmer polish that is great for layering. This combo also wears about a week without chipping for me. The swatches are with Seche Vite top coat.

Thanks for stopping by!

Orly Mineral FX Collection Fall 2011 : Rock Solid, Stone Cold, and Rock the World

Indooor Lighting
Rock Solid is a sparkly gray shimmer polish, with holographic glitter. It is my favorite out of the collection. As with any holographic glitter, the sparkle is hard to photograph. The swatches are three coats.

Stone Cold is a royal blue shimmer with a smooth finish. The swatches are three coats. It's so lively and blue. I love it.

Rock the World, I honestly dont know how to describe this color. For sure it is a shimmery duochrome with gold. But the main color is a mauve, reddish, fuschia, magenta, type color. It is fascinating none the less.

The Orly FX Collections polishes are all so sparkly and shimmery, and if you see one in your favorite color pick it up if you can. They all need  three coats for me to reach full opacity, but are a joy to look at and wear. These are available at Sally Beauty Supply at a retail price of $8.99.

Chunky Nail Polish : Halloween Glitters

Smile! Group Photo! : )
A sky blue polish full of sky blue and silver glitter, with silver hexagonal glitter. The application was smooth. I used three thin coats for the swatches. The finish is gritty and a thick topcoat would help.

All of the polishes had this label, or this label underneath a label, that read Pumpkin Nail Enamel.

A black creme polish with silver glitter, and silver hexagonal glitter. The application was smooth an it was opaque in two coats. I used three coats in the above swatches. The finish was smoother than the above blue glitter polish.

An orange and black bar glitter in a clear base. The bar glitter was fairly sparse. I used three coats to get enough bar glitter to my liking, over a white polish for contrast.

An iridescent hexagonal glitter, with silver moon glitters in a clear/gray base. Unfortunately, as with many cute chunky glitters, the moons and glitter are very hard to get to with the brush. I managed to get one moon per nail. Actually the effect is cute, and the finish is satin.

All of the brushes were surprisingly good, and made for easy application. There were bins full of all different colors of glitters, and glow in the dark polishes. I found these polishes at Meijer in the seasonal section for a retail price of $2.49 each.

Fun Halloween Flakie Find

I found this flakie polish in the seasonal section of Meijer Grocery store. The collection also had bar glitters, moon glitters, circle glitters, glow in the dark glitters, and more.

This polish doesn't have a name included, the sticker on the bottom reads Chunky Nail, but so did most of the other glitters in the collection I purchased. The base is a sheer purple jelly, and the swatches are two coats over a purple creme polish. The base contains flakie and regular glitter that has a purple, blue, and teal shift! The flakie glitter is also iridescent. The polish was slightly thick and the flakie glitter was sparse with the first coat. The second coat seemed to add plenty of flakies. To top it all off, the retail price is only $2.49.

Ozotic Pro Elytra 529

Ozotic Pro is an Australlian brand, and their offering Elytra 529, is a multichromatic glitter topcoat. It is suggested to use layered over a black polish. The swatches above are two coats over a black polish. The multichrome flashes primarily navy blue and purple. At angles plum, copper, blue and violet are noticeable. The finish and application is smooth. The polish is darker and less multichromatic than Elytra 528, but still unique and beautiful. I purchased this polish from Picture Polish. At the current time their shipping to the U.S. has changed, and the price is very high. There are a few websites in the U.S. that I just learned sell these polishes and other Ozotic Pro shades. One store is at shop.llarowe.com for $17.50.

The swatches above are two coats over a black polish. The multichrome flashes primarily purple and teal.
